Fly Southwest: PUJ to Shreveport, Louisiana

Well, here's to all you jet-setters, flight aficionados,and adventurous travelers with an itch to explore, those brave souls who are gluttons for airport food and would actually consider embarking on a flight from Punta Cana to Shreveport on Southwest. Oh, you brave voyagers!

Allow my sarcasm to settle. Let's embark on this virtual trip together, leaving behind the crystal clear blue waters of Punta Cana, sizzling in the Caribbean sun with toucans and parakeets as our companions – just to plunge into the heartland of North Louisiana. We all know Southwest and they, in turn, know us. They've patiently borne with our sagas of lost baggage, coped with our constant inquiries regarding in-flight services, and granted us those cherished discounts on cheap flights.

Let's start with the very basics: flights. Here's a piece of profound advice — choose a direct flight. This tussle between layover and non-stop won't keep you up at night like a flight path sprinkled with connections. After all, who wants to experience the joy of lounging around in nameless airports when you could fly straight to Shreveport, land of a... football stadium? And a river? Perhaps a very chic farmer's market?

Now onto getting the most out of your airfare. In case you’re a seasoned frequent flyer or perhaps an airfare guru with a knack for cracking the best flight deals, you might know this already. The best time to book is when everyone isn't. We can parade past fellow passengers confidently, knowing we've accomplished something. Yes, our bank balances might resemble drought-ridden fields, but that's a minor blip on the radar, isn't it?

The bigger issue is the mini heart attack we get when we can't feel our passports, even though we tucked them safely away only 2 minutes ago. Or the momentary wave of guilt when we look at the economy class from our comfortable leg-room haven in the business class. Finally, we land at our destination after an inexplicably long flight duration, disheveled and jetlagged, dazed by the lethargy that only the combination of airline food, dull in-flight magazines, and endless safety instructions can induce. Only then it occurs to us - we've been on this route before, too many times to count. And despite our sarcastic observations and satirical comments at its expense, we can’t resist this dance with Southwest, the carousel of flights, airfare, layovers, and whatnot.
